Aug 31, 2020 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
On Monday, August 31 at 6:30 PM, we will hold an online-only club meeting. Our speaker will be Mike Yates an educator, public speaking coach and host of the School Sucks podcast.
One of the sneaky assumptions about the American industrial school system is that it's lack of relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness is a new discovery. The truth is that scholars and educators have long seen the American school system as broken. Horace Mann, the father of American Public Education, only began working on and promoting education as a public service because he believed the system of the day was flawed as it did not reach enough children. Unfortunately, today many have settled for tiny improvements to a system that has now become deeply flawed and deeply rooted in American society. During this chat we will discuss how to start to fix and break free from a school system that has always been broken.
Our meetings are now online using Zoom.

Oct 12, 2020 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
On Monday, October 12 at 6:30 PM, we will hold an online-only club meeting. Our speaker will be Ivan Milman on voting by mail.
Disinformation abounds about the security and validity of voting by mail. As noted in a presentation on September 28th, much of this disinformation is designed to undermine credibility in the results of the upcoming US election. In this presentation, we will attempt to sort fact from fiction regarding voting by mail. We will start by defining voting by mail and how it operates (including relationship to absentee voting). Then we look at the current state of voting by mail in the US, historical information regarding the miniscule number of cases of known vote-by-mail fraud and look at actual risks and countermeasures. We will talk specifically about voting by mail in Texas.
